Our school council is a group of students who have been elected to represent the views of all pupils and to improve our school.
The school council meets with Mrs J Smith and Miss M McTaggart once a fortnight – to discuss and sort out problems. These have included school uniform, behaviour or ideas for fundraising events.
Members of the school council are responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been agreed, such as planning the Christmas fayre, writing newspaper articles, or even sorting out questions to interview prospective headteacher candidates.
Council members have to inform their class on decisions made and ensure they put forward all the pupils’ ideas via class suggestion boxes.
Every year we spend the money raised on ideas put forward by the council. This year we have supported our two sponsored children in the Gambia, bought new play equipment and are paying for an art project for Year 6.
As always our councillors and secretary are excellent and a credit to the school.
