Adrian Bamford

About me

I joined GPPS Governors as Co-Opted governor in September 2021. I have lived in Up Hatherley for over 35 years and have just been elected as the Borough Councillor for the Up Hatherley Ward.

After university I trained as a Chartered Accountant and following a spell in local Government I moved to Cheltenham as Hospital Accountant at the General. I took a further degree in Management that enabled me to become the Manager of the Cancer Centre and eventually to join the Management Board of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust. Meanwhile my children attended Greatfield Park shortly after the school was built and during their time at the school I had my first spell on the Governing Board, chairing it for 2 years about 20 years ago.

I won the Gloucester Marathon 6 times in my 30s and as my knees started to wear out into my 40s I reduced the running and took up triathlon representing Team GB on about a dozen occasions as a ‘veteran’.

After retiring in 2016 I became Chair of Up Hatherley Parish Council as well as the local Cancer Charity called Linc. Having enjoyed living in Up Hatherley for so long I’m now trying my best to give something back to the community and by joining the school governors hope that I can help Greatfield Park reach its full potential.
